Reducing Inpatient Hospital Acquired Pressure Injuries with Nursing Interdisciplinary Collaboration under the Direction of the WOCN Team
Hospital acquired pressure injuries (HAPI) result from localized damage to the skin and/or underlying soft tissue. The injuries are usually caused by prolonged periods of unrelieved pressure on the skin or pressure in combination with shear forces. RWJUH data reveal a HAPI rate of 5.45 for 2022. In the US, the average cost of a HAPI is $10,708/ patient, with an overall cost of $26.8 billion
